Wanware Configuration

  1. On the computer with Wanware installed, at a command prompt type:
wwconfig

To navigation through the interface use the;

Note: The function keys (F1, F2, F12, etc.) may not work in an X windows environment.

Follow these steps to configure Wanware

  1. Type in the serial number of the Wanware product.
  2. Tab to the OK button and press Enter.

  1. On the main configuration screen, highlight Edit WAN Configuration.
  2. Press Enter.

  1. Tab to the Add button.
  2. Press Enter.

  1. Highlight the number of links that correspond to the board installed.
  2. Press Enter.

  1. Highlight the link you wish to edit.
  2. Press Enter.

  1. Highlight the appropriate protocol
  2. Press Enter.
  3. Repeat from Step 9 for all links to be configured.
  4. Tab to the OK button on the WAN Configuration screen.
  5. Press Enter.

  1. At the main menu (Refer to Figure 2) highlight "Edit IP over WAN Configuration"
    Note: For some OS versions, this option is not available.
  2. Press Enter.
  3. Highlight Set Protocol Type
  4. Press Enter.

  1. IP traffic can only be carried over one WAN protocol at a time. Highlight appropriate protocol for your IP connection.
  2. Press Enter.

Both ends of the IP traffic (local and remote) must be defined so that Wanware knows what packets to send and to where. For example, you might configure Wanware so that the destination IP address 192.168.1.1 corresponds to the remote X.25 address 12345678. Likely you will also have to configure the product receiving the packets (at the remote site) is configured with the this machine's local IP address.

  1. Highlight Edit Interfaces.
  2. Press Enter.
  3. Tab to the Add button.
  4. Press Enter.

  1. Enter the Local IP Address.
  2. Enter the local Netmask.
  3. Enter the Local Host Name (eg xfred for machine fred's name on the X.25 connection).
  4. Tab to the Edit Remote Hosts button.

  1. Tab to the Add button.
  2. Press Enter.
  3. Highlight the appropriate link.
  4. Enter the Remote IP Address.
  5. Enter the remote Netmask.
  6. Enter the Remote Host Name.
  7. Tab to the OK button on the remote hosts screen.
  8. Press Enter.
  9. Tab to the OK button on the local hosts screen.
  10. Press Enter.

  1. Tab to the OK button and press Enter at every screen until you are back at the main menu. (Refer to Figure 2).
  2. Select "Save Configuration and Exit".

Note: Once configured, IP over WAN is enabled. If you delete all the defined Interfaces, IP over WAN will be disabled.

The Wanware configuration is now complete. Continue to the Link Configuration.

Note: wwconfig modifies these three files (/etc/hosts, /etc/x25hosts, and /etc/frelhost), but only between the start and end flags ("WWCONFIG START", and "WWCONFIG END"). To manually configure these files all entries must be made outside these two flags.
