Dial Parameters

These are the elements for the 'dial_defn' X.25 parameter.

Parameter

Description

dial_string

This field specifies the phone number to be dialed when calls are made. For CCITT V.25bis dialing, the telephone number must be all digits, and may be up to 80 characters long. Some V.25bis modems allow selection of tone or pulse dialing by preceding the telephone number with a T or P indicating how to dial.

number_of_retries

Default: 0.
The number of times a number will be re-dialed after a failed attempt. Failures include busy numbers, premature hang up, and call time-out (see 'timeout_between_retry'). Errors such as CTS (EIA-RS232C signal) being held low or modem reports no dial tone will terminate a dial attempt immediately without any retries or other numbers being dialed.

timeout_between_retry

Default: 0
The number of seconds after a number has been dialed that will be allowed to pass before the attempt is aborted. If a time-out occurs either the number will be re-dialed or the remaining dial_defns will be attempted.
