packetnets - networks file

Description

The /etc/packetnets file is used to resolve a network name to a specific link on a communications controller. It is also used to hold the primitives used to build the stack on streams based products. It is set up with all fields appropriate for your choices of communications controller(s) at installation time. Each line is composed of a primitive and an associated value if appropriate. Each network ID has associated with it rules which tell interested programs about the network. (The X.25 library includes functions to access these fields.) The following are some of the supported fields:

 
NETID           Network ID (introduces each entry)
    NAME        Unique Network Name associated with NETID
    TYPE        Network type (ie. X25, FREL, etc.)
    BRDTYPE     Board Type (SGX, SGE, etc) (for non-streams
                environments)
    BOARD       Board number (for non-streams environments)
    LINK        Link number (for non-streams environments)
    MODULE      Name of Download Module or NONE
                (for non-streams environments)
    PPA         Physical Point Of Attachment (per Board type)
                (for streams environments)
    CONFIG      Name of configuration file
    NETWORK     Device to open in order to gain access through
                the SPI interface.
    OPEN        Open a device
    ATTACH      Send dl_attach with a given PPA
    PUSH        Push a module
    LINK        Open and link
    SETNID      Set Network ID
    SETCONF     Set Configuration (N/A)
END             closes the entry

Fields are separated by any number of TAB and/or SPACE characters. Comments, that is, text beginning with a '#', may also be included; characters after a '#' through the end of the line are not interpreted by routines that use this file.
